It’s been a while but someone complained that the site hadn’t been updated, so. Here I am. Working on a new book on the end of aesthetic history, hopefully finishing it up this summer.

Upcoming talks at the College of Charleston (March), Knox College (April), and Texas A&M (September). First two are defenses of the humanities; last will be on our contemporary models for thinking about historical development. I recently visited Wash U in St. Louis, and did an interview.

Meanwhile also working on a book on video games, which I’ve been meaning to do forever. And also putting together the material for a second edition of The Elements of Academic Style, which should be done by the end of 2025.

Personally: haven’t been working out or cycling. Getting older–little troubles in multiple areas! And I’m a newish dad again: the kids are now 2, 14, and 16. And overall life is pretty good despite the shitty apocalypse going on outdoors.
